Child Care centers are special places. A center becomes even more special when it presents unique programming. Our Montessori-style approach comes from a European approach developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. She believed that no human being is educated by another person; the child must do it on his/her own or it will never be done. Therefore, we share in her goal of early childhood…not to fill the child with facts from a pre-selected course of studies, but rather to cultivate his/her own natural desire to learn. This goal is accomplished in the classroom by allowing each child to experience the excitement of learning by his/her own choice rather than by being forced; and by helping him/her to use all the natural tools of learning, so that his/her ability will be at a maximum in future learning situations. In other words, The Kinder House provides the resources and opportunity for each child to explore and manipulate as his/her ability allows. We also encourage independence, practice of self-help skills, and helping others. Our goal is to send our children into the world as socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually prepared individuals who are excited to learn and share their ideas.
The Kinder House is licensed for operation by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education; a division of the Department of Health and Human Resources.
